19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also means he has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
