Vehicles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
